Ready to bring some new life to your furniture? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of upholstery and how to repair or refresh a simple chair or stool.
With expert guidance from Helen from Heritage Trading it will be a fun afternoon of creativity, learning practical skills, and walking away feeling proud of your refreshed piece of furniture.
This small-group workshop is beginner-friendly, so no prior upholstery experience is needed - just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and have fun!
What’s included:
- all essential upholstery tools and some materials (including buttons if required)
- expert tips
- morning tea
Please bring:
- your piece of furniture (a simple chair such as dining chair, footstool, or similar)
- fabric you’d like to use for the project - good quality upholstery fabric is best, as it is heavier than clothing fabric and can withstand the wear and tear.
Before the workshop:
- strip your item of any old fabric and remove staples or nails as much as possible.
- keep foam or wadding underneath
- bring the old fabric, as you can use this as a pattern
- if you are painting your piece, make sure it’s fully cured beforehand
