Building consents don’t just apply to building a house.
The building consent process is designed to ensure all structures and buildings comply with the Building Act. Most types of building work, including fences more than two metres in height are likely to require a resource consent. There are some exemptions so please talk to the events team and building compliance team at council to find what you need.
Once a building consent application is submitted you should allow up to 20 working days for processing. If required, inspections of the building work must also be booked in advance.
If you are a non-profit organisation you may qualify for a waiver of fees.
